On the 10th of March 2021, al-Shabab launched mortar attacks targeted at the offices of the UN and African Union peacekeeping mission in the Somali capital Mogadishu. Six mortar rounds landed within the perimeter of Aden Adde international airport during this attack.
Further strikes were reported on the morning of March 25th. James Swan, UN secretary-general’s special representative for Somalia confirmed that six mortar rounds landed within the perimeter of Aden Adde with further mortars impacting surrounding neighbourhoods.
