CREWSHIELD has successfully installed over 50 Nos Overhead Protection Systems and Side Wall Protection Systems in the Horn of Africa in partnership with RA International for the UK Ministry Of Defense for use on its facility.
Project: Supply of 50 Nos 20FT Overhead Protection System and 30 Nos 2.0 metre fragmentation mitigation system and fixing bars
Client: RA International
End-User: UK Ministry of Defense (UK MOD)
Project Started: July 2019
Project Completed: September 2019
Project Requirements:
Both RA International and the UK MOD intend to develop facilities against threat parameters laid out in STANAG 2280 (ed 1. 2008) to Level C4. The UK MOD has been deployed in the Horn of Africa to support 3 organisations; the United Nations (UN), the African Union Mission, and to support the training of the Somali National Army (SNA) to counter Islamist terrorist group Al-Shabab (affiliates Al-Qaida) and other local extremists in the region.
In order to accelerate the above, a portable, easily assemble, transportable, light but effective overhead protection system was required to mitigate the risks of the existing facilities against parameters of STANAG 2280.
The Solution:
Crewshield undertook to design and testing of its Overhead Protection System and obtained certification by a recognised European testing facility that it matches or exceeds the required standards. The costs associated with testing and certification was borne by Crewshield and live fire testing in the United Kingdom was completed in July 2019. Subsequently, successful certification was achieved and awarded to Crewshield that same period.
Crewshield has since designed, engineered, fabricated and delivered over 50 Nos of its Overhead Protection Systems in the region.
Crewshield also supplied additional numbers of its unique design of the Overhead Protection Systems for mounting on existing complex buildings and infrastructures that require such protection level.
